Mid-Week Deals

There are some fabulous mid-week deals this week that will even earn you money while you buy items!

CVS
There is a deal this week where when you buy 2 items from the sunglasses area you get $10 in ExtraCareBucks. Apparently, the lens clothes are working for this deal and they are only $.99! So you buy 2 for the deal, pay $1.98 plus tax if applicable and then get $10 in ECB's! You can only do this deal once per ExtraCare card.

The products are reportedly found in the sunglasses or reading glasses carousels (at the bottom) or in the eye care aisle. This may be a search! Valid UPC codes appear to be:
8 830190050 7 (Lens Cleaning Tissue)
0 30048 47128 9 (Lens Cleaning Tissue)
0 30048 47129 6 (Lens Cleaning Tissue - 20 count pre-moistened)

Supposedly the car cleaning cloths ($.99) and the glasses cases ($1.99) are also working for this deal. This is an unadvertised deal and I can't guarantee it will work for everyone. You can always return the products if the ECB's don't print!

Walgreens
Oreo Cakesters are on sale at 2 for $5.00 with a $3 Register Reward when you buy 2. Buy 2 and use 2 coupons (for $1.00 off of 1) from this past Sunday's newspaper. Pay just $3.00 for the 2 boxes and then get $3 in Register Rewards back. Makes them FREE after Register Reward!

If you don't get 2 papers, ask around to see where you can get another set of coupon inserts. Friends, family, neighbors, co-workers - someone is bound to get the paper and not even look at the coupons!

Target
Kraft Mayo is on sale for $1.99. Use the $1.00 off coupon from the 4/26 Sunday paper or the one we all printed last month from Kraft. Pair your manufacturer's coupon with the Target printable and the item is FREE!

The large bottles of Dawn Pure Essentials are on sale for $2.09 this week. Use the $1.50 off coupon from the 6/7 Sunday paper and pay just $.59 for a BIG bottle of dishwashing liquid!

WalMart
Johnson's Cotton Swabs (30 count pack) sell for $.97 in the baby section. Use the $1.00 off coupon from the 4/26 Sunday paper and they are FREE!

Reach Dental Floss sells for $.97. Use the $1.00 off coupon that you can print from the blue coupons.com widget on my right sidebar and the item is FREE

Vaseline Aloe Fresh Lotion, travel size, sells for $.97. Use the $1.00 off coupon (trial sizes are not excluded) that you can print from the blue coupons.com widget on my right sidebar or the coupon from the 5/17 Sunday paper and the item is FREE

The Natural Dentist Products

I am all about trying to use the most natural products possible, especially in my mouth! The Natural Dentist has a great line of all natural mouthwashes and toothpastes that are dye and alcohol free. Oprah recently gave their mouthwash an award!

Their website says that they create their products from plants and minerals and are committed to using ingredients in their purest forms. Their products contain no artificial sweeteners, dyes or preservatives.

The folks at The Natural Dentist recently sent me their Original Healthy Teeth & Gums Anti-Cavity Toothpaste and their Antigingivitis Rinse. I was very happy with both products, especially the way they left my mouth feeling very clean and refreshed with none of the burning associated with some mouthwashes. They have research that shows that even though you are spitting out toothpaste and mouthwash that some of it remains in your body and for that reason we should be concerned about potentially harmful ingredients in some popular toothpastes and mouthwashes.

The Natural Dentist products are sold nationally, including at CVS and Walgreens. There is a coupon on their website right now that you can download and use to save money on the product.

TJMaxx and Marshalls - an "Off-Price" Spendervention!

Have you seen the "Spendervention" TV spots showing how shoppers nationwide are staging interventions to tell their friends all about "off-price" shopping? They are so cute and I was thrilled to be ask to do a little shopping at Marshalls and TJMaxx and let my readers know all about it!

What is "off-price"? "Off-price" is all about high quality at a low cost. The companies are able to do this through opportunistic buying where their fabulous buyers search the world to find amazing deals for the consumer. They are able to do this because of their large size (combined 1630 stores nationwide), flexible buying policies (can buy a few pieces or thousands since each item doesn't have to be found in each store), and no-frills displays, among other reasons.

I have shopped at TJMaxx and Marshalls since I was young and am always happy when I get a great bargain! It's nice to know sometimes that you don't have to wait for a sale and there's no coupons to clip!

I was visiting a friend out-of-state and needed a hostess gift as well as something small for her 2 young kids. I decided to use my Marshalls giftcard that I got through the Spendervention program. I was able to get 4 super cute items for just $30.00!

I was able to get a Strawberry Shortcake Doll for her daughter, a Cars etch-a-sketch with book for her son, and an adorable container of 4 pastel ice cream bowls, along with 4 ice cream spoons with animals on the handles for her and her husband (who may have a slight ice cream addiction). It was one-stop shopping at its best and the gifts I selected were perfect for each recipient. If I had shopped individually for each person I would have likely spent over $100 on the "perfect" gifts.

I don't have a picture of my TJMaxx trip but was able to get a credit card wallet, a mixing bowl, a frying pan, and a T-shirt for my $25!

According to the buyers at TJMaxx and Marshalls, a true value is a combination of fashion, quality, brand, and price! More than 10,000 new items are delivered to stores each week. Even if you go frequently you'll always find something different.

Did you know that...
*over 95% of the merchandise is first quality?
* over 85& of the merchandise is current season?

They say that TJMaxx and Marshalls are THE place for a chic recessionista to shop this season - and I think I have to agree!

GameFilm Consultants

GameFilm Consultants is yet another great and legit mystery shopping company. If you are new to mystery shopping, make sure to read my Mystery Shopping 101 post here and to check out all my recommended mystery shopping companies here.

I have completed a series of telephone mystery shops with GameFilm and was paid timely via PayPal. These are the only telephone mystery shops I have ever done and I loved how convenient it was to do them from home. I received a fee for each call made and they each only took a few minutes. The questionnaire was straightforward and simple and the scheduler I dealt with was friendly and responsive.

GameFilm does not have many shops in my area but when I click on other states I see some great opportunities for people. Because I have signed a confidentiality agreement with GameFilm I cannot disclose their clients but can tell you that they have some good shops in many areas.

As always, it's FREE to sign up with the mystery shopping companies I post about on Nicole's Nickels and there is no obligation for you to ever accept a shop once you've signed up.

Big Paw Designs - Pet Bling Review & Giveaway!

I was so excited when I found Big Paw Designs online and got to browse through their large online store filled with the cutest pet-related goodies! If you haven't noticed the picture of the "mascots" on the right sidebar of my blog, I have 2 dogs, Chester and Cleo. They are very spoiled and I love to dress them up and make them look special.

I received the pet collar charms "Princess" for Cleo and "Power Tail" for Chester. These fit perfectly with their personalities and look so snazzy on their collars! The workmanship is high quality and the charms are very sturdy. My little guys are the cutest on the block with their new bling! Big Paw Designs has more than just collar charms though. They have a wide array of key chains, earrings, pet necklaces, magnets, stickers, frames and treat tins. The company was founded in 2002 by Carol Perry and all items are made in the USA. Big Paw Designs also supports rescues and have dedicated a special keychain and charm to the dog victims of Hurricane Katrina at the Used Dog Rescue in New Orleans.

The folks at Big Paw Designs have graciously decided to give two (2) of my lucky readers each one of the charms I got for my dogs. One winner will win the "princess" charm, the other will win the "power tail" charm To enter, you MUST visit the Big Paw Designs website here and read about their products. Then come back to my blog and leave a comment in this post letting me know what other product (besides the collar charms) you think looks interesting! Make sure to leave your email address so I can contact the winners.

There are six (6) "extra" ways to enter (each one below gets you one additional entry):

1. subscribe to my blog (either via email using the box in the left sidebar or RSS feed). If you already subscribe leave a comment saying you do. If you subscribe by email you MUST confirm your email and activate the subscription.

2. follow me on Twitter (http://twitter.com/NicolesNickels) and tweet about this giveaway. If you already follow me that's fine, just comment with a link back to the tweet about this giveaway.

3. blog about this giveaway (leave the link in the comment)

4. email 5 people about this giveaway (please cc me on this email - nicolesnickels at gmail dot com and leave a comment saying you sent the email)

5. grab my button for your site (leave the link to where the button is in the comment)

6. add the link to this giveaway on a Mr. Linky about giveaways or on a blog giveaway site, blog carnival or forum or yahoo group (leave link to where you did this in the comment)

You MUST leave a comment answering the question above as your first entry and then additional entries are governed by the terms above. You MUST leave a separate comment for each entry you are able to make. Feed and email subscribers will need to click on to my actual blog to leave a comment. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only, 18 years old or over, and the winners will be chosen by random.org. This giveaway will be good until June 21 at 9:00 pm Eastern time and a winner will be announced soon thereafter. If the winner does not respond to my email within 48 hours then I will pick a new winner. Good luck!

The Couponizer

I have blogged before about coupon organization and my method but wanted to let you all know about The Couponizer as it is smaller and less cumbersome than the binder I created and may be more suited to your needs.

The Couponizer is a durable notebook where you can store your coupons, giftcards, loyalty cards and punch cards all in one place. It has a shopping list and a results area so you can keep track of your savings. The inventor of The Couponizer is a couponer who saw the need for a product - it solves every problem couponers have when organizing their coupons!

I especially love that it has an area for you to put coupons that are using while you are shopping that you can then transfer over to the "checkout" category as you watch the cashier scan. Most grocery stores have a policy for you to get an item for FREE if it scans incorrectly. The couponizer's list and organizational system lets you watch the cashier and not fumble with a stack of coupons as you check out.

The Couponizer means business! This isn't your flimsy dollar store coupon carrier. If you're serious about couponing and saving money, this may be a worthwhile investment to assist you. Click here for more information about how you can get The Couponizer!

Home Depot Newsletter

If you register (for FREE) with the Home Depot Gardening Club, you'll get periodic emails containing valuable tips, store specials, and even coupons and discounts!

Home Depot Garden Club

Many of you know I am a big fan of these kind of newsletters. You'll often find unadvertised savings and valuable coupons. I use my separate "deals" email and check a few times a week to see if there are any great deals or coupons in these emails!

Hoover Platinum Collection™ Cyclonic Bagless Upright

I was so excited that the folks at Hoover wanted to send me a vacuum to try out and review for my readers. When the vacuum finally arrived, my air conditioner broke that day and the box just sat in my house for a few days while the a/c got straightened out. I was finally able to open the box and assemble the vacuum.

This isn't just any vacuum - it's the Hoover Platinum Collection™ Cyclonic Bagless Upright! This is one serious vacuum! For all of its features and power it was very easy for me to put together on my own, needing only a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the pusher part.

I played around with the attachments first - it has a crevice tool, a wand handle and a dusting/upholstery tool. I love using the upholstery tool to vacuum the crumbs out of the couch! I was also fascinated by the high-tech lighting on the control panel of the vacuum. There are 4 types of floor to choose from ranging from bare floors (brushroll off) to very high pile carpets. My carpets are medium pile so I selected that type. The entire control panel area lights up blue and the power button is more of a touchpad than an actual switch which I thought was very cool.

I plugged her in and was very impressed by the long cord length. I think it may be possible to do the carpets throughout my house (I only have carpet in 3 rooms and live in Florida so only one floor) without having to unplug if I am strategic about it. The motor was very quiet and I don't think the dogs realized it was a vacuum because when I started to move it around, they looked surprised and high-tailed it out of the room.

The vacuum has a low-reach setting where it tilts back making it almost lie flat to get underneath hard-to-reach areas. There is also an embedded DirtFINDER where the vacuum tells you (by green or red light) if an area is in particular need of additional vacuuming. This vacuum has a dirt cup that needs to be emptied but it is bagless. There is a filter (in addition to a HEPA filter) that needs to be cleaned. I read the instructions on cleaning and it appears to be very straightforward.

The only downside to this vacuum that I could find is that it is on the heavier side. Since I don't have to carry it up and down stairs I just looked at it as muscle-building and kept on humming and cleaning.

My friend Karen at Frugal RI Mama was lucky enough to get not only one of these to review but also one to GIVEAWAY to a lucky reader! Her giveaway for this Hoover Platinum Collection™ Cyclonic Bagless Upright is good until June 30. She's given you 7 ways to enter and you can find her giveaway post here. Be sure to follow the directions so all of your entries count!

RedBox Codes - FREE movie rentals!

I have blogged about RedBox and how it works before here. If you haven't used RedBox before, they are the red boxes inside of many stores (it's WalMart and Walgreens near me) that are like vending machines that dispense movies. I always thought they must be older movies but that's not the case! They have brand new releases as well. You can even search the RedBox location near you online to see what movies they have in stock.

I have heard of some recent RedBox codes that can be used at any time. You can use each of them once per credit card so if you have more than one credit card you can use each more than once. Each of these codes will get you a FREE rental of a movie.

Good anytime RedBox codes (write down all of them as some may not work when you get to the kiosk - please let me know which don't work if you try them and where you tried them):

DEVRY6268
DVDATWAG (Walgreens only)
DVDONME
BREAKROOM
SPSTA61
M3ZZHQG
4CJQR2T
MDRMTHG
CONTROL
2FR2RKL
M3R5GWQ
WALGREENS (Walgreens only)
REDBOX (New customers)

Also, for you readers who are local to a Harris Teeter, when you buy three (3) Kellogg's products you'll get a code for a FREE one night rental. This offer is good until June 30, 2009. Thanks, Barbara for this great FREEBIE.

TNT Original Summer Premieres!

I was so excited to receive a package from TNT with the season premieres of their summer shows - Hawthorne (premiering June 16), The Closer (premiering June 8), Wedding Day (premiering June 16), Saving Grace (premiering June 16) and my favorite, Raising the Bar (premiering June 8).

The two shows premiering tonight are The Closer and Raising the Bar. I had never seen The Closer until I watched the advance copy premiere I received and absolutely loved it. I am definitely setting my TIVO to season pass both shows.

Raising the Bar
I watched the first season of Raising the Bar and was riveted by it. Now, I am sure those of you who know what I do in my "real life" are wondering why I would want to watch a legal drama once I get home. The truth is that this show isn't anything like what I do every day and I find the storylines compelling and the characters complex.

The show stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Ruben, and Jane Kaczmarek and revolves around Jane Kaczmarek's (the Judge) criminal courtroom. Here, the prosecutors and public defenders spar in court but occasionally share drinks after hours. The storylines combine the personal lives of the lawyers with the daily drama of their cases and the lives affected by what happens in the courtroom.

TNT has been gracious enough to share a sneak peek of tonight's premiere with all of you by clicking here.

This show is produced by the well-known Steven Bochco, creator of many of your favorite legal dramas, and although only in its second season, is already one of the network's top shows. Raising the Bar premieres tonight at 10 pm.

The Closer

The Closer returns for Season 5 tonight. This successful show stars Kyra Sedgwick and is also a legal drama revolving around the Major Crimes Unit in the police force. This drama again combines the stressful work life of the Major Crimes Unit while also examining their tumultuous personal lives and relationships. I really enjoyed watching the season premiere and think you will too.

Click here for a sneak peek of the season premiere of The Closer, premiering tonight at 9 pm on TNT.

Watch TNT tonight for 2 great season premieres. The other 3 shows premiere on June 16 - I'll post those sneak peaks later this week for you.

Service Intelligence - Experience Exchange

Service Intelligence - Experience Exchange is the next in the series of mystery companies I have worked with and want to tell my readers about. I have been working with this company since the first days of my mystery shopping experience over a year ago now. They are very professional and pleasant to work with and pay timely. If you're local to Florida you'll find they shop a store very familiar to all of us! I can't speak to the offerings in other areas but am confident you Florida residents will be happy with this one!

They send periodic emails with available shops but you'll need to log on frequently to get the best ones before they're taken. You enter your shops online in an easy-to-use format. They often have high-paying shops if you're available at the last minute.

As always, it's FREE to sign up for any mystery shopping company I post about. Click here to sign up for Service Intelligence - Experience Exchange.

If you're local to the Treasure Coast check your Walgreens ad from this past Sunday! In honor of 2 new Walgreens opening (at Savage and Gatlin in PSL and Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach), there is a $3 off when you spend $10 right on the front of the flyer! My flyer had it and neither of those stores is the closest Walgreens to me. The coupon is only valid at the new Walgreens' listed above and is good until June 13, 2009. Pair this coupon with my weekly deals post here and here for the most savings!

Thanks for the tip, Jennifer!

New Cellfire Coupons

I am proud to announce that you are now able to access and load Cellfire coupons directly from Nicole's Nickels! There is now a Cellfire banner on my right sidebar (underneath the blue coupons.com banner) where you can quick load the coupons you select. You can also access Cellfire by clicking here.

What is Cellfire? Cellfire is a company that offers no-print coupons that load directly onto your store rewards card or cell phone. Cellfire can currently be used at the following stores: Baker's
City Market, Dillons, Fry's, Gerbes, Hilander, JayC, King Soopers, Kroger, Owen's, Pay Less, QFC, Ralphs, Scott's, Smith's, Safeway, Tom Thumb, and Randalls. The process is very simple - just link your store rewards card with your Cellfire login (it's FREE) and load the coupons. When you use your rewards card in the store you'll save money on the items that had e-coupons.

For more information on Cellfire, they have a comprehensive FAQ section that you can review here.

This month's e-coupons (must load by 6/15 and use by the end of the month) are:
Lucky Charms cereal, $.55
Chex Mix Bars, $.60
Chex Mix, $.50
Romanos Macaroni Grill, $1
Fiber One Bars, $.40

Since you never know when you'll need these coupons and you don't get penalized for not using them, load them all!

I don't usually talk about blog logistics on here but I wanted to alert my fellow bloggers to a new ad network called Juice Box Jungle. I love this site because you (and your readers) don't have to do anything - you just install the small widget (mine is on my left sidebar) and it's up to your readers to click it. Right now it pays per page view - no need to sign up or do a single thing but load your blog.

The widget is a player but only plays when clicked. Juice Box Jungle is invite only right now so email me if you'd like an invite.
